quite some years ago. I still have it and I still read it quite often.
As a direct sales person, back then, it was probably the biggest helper that I could wish for. I had read quite a few books on selling and there are some real good ones out there. Advanced Selling Strategies was for me, and still is, the best I could wish for.
It isn’t a recycled version of other books, it is full of do-able, logical and very good ideas that I know are the strategies and ideas that top sales people all over the world use to achieve their results.
For example, “the 10% principle”; Brian Tracy explains how after studying and analysing his sales performance he came up with a simple but very effective solution to improve the effectiveness of each individual action. I applied this method based on small improvements that are self-monitored and the results were impressive. I sold more and decreased my energy output. This type of advice is really refreshing to read and apply to your own situation. the book does help and it does offer sound advice,not only to experienced sales people but serious beginners too.
Don’t be put off by the title of “Advanced” if you are a beginner in sales. It’s a book for intelligent people who want solid ideas and advice to apply to their own sales arena.
It covers every angle of the sales process, prospecting,cold calling,gathering names and qualifying them to ensuring that your presenation and handling of objections are well prepared and tailor made for the client or prospect.
The writing is warm and friendly, Brian Tracy writes as if he’s having a heart to heart with you – as a business person. Throughout the book motivation is a key point. Call to action instead of mulling it over is a core message in the book. every time I read it again I get tingles down my spine and a feeling that “I can do it!”. Some how, Brian Tracy has the ability to make a person believe in themselves. His way of reminding you how important it is to Do-It-Now motivates and warms the eart. It makes you realise how important your goals are, that they need to be put into action now, not tomorrow – tomorrow you’ll have new goals, so work on today’s,today.
I like this book, I’ve been reading it again and again for all the years I’ve owned my copy because when I do it’s a bit like ordering my thoughts and adjusting my perspectives to ensure that I’m still on track. You wouldn’t go wrong by having a copy of Advanced Selling Strategies on your bookshelf.
